The desert sappan is a small deciduous shrub 1 to 2 meters high. Sometimes it can grow into a small tree 5 meters high. It has crown branches and its trunk is swollen and fleshy near the base. Its original habitat is distributed in the South and west of Madagascar, mainly in the arid and semi-arid areas of deciduous forests and thorny shrubs, and on the Eocene limestone of mahafali plateau. Even when saplings are young, their wart grains, rough stems and small pinnate leaves make it look like an old miniature tree. The flowers are bright yellow, very suitable for ornamental potted plants.<br>
