第十节可以说是在回应第九节所说的，一个母亲生了七个儿女，但是他们都无法使父母快乐，反而是提早哀伤，连先知耶利米自己母亲也是一样，但这却是他内心最大的痛苦，因为他的母亲可能尚在人间，当他说出这样的话时，他的母亲一定感到很难受，同时他必须为传出上帝的话而与他的同胞争论，且不得人民的认同。我们可以从这里想到耶稣基督在传福音事工时，也遇到这样的情形，福音书的作者说，当耶稣基督的母亲和他的兄弟来要找他说话时，他回答说：「谁是我的母亲？谁是我的兄弟？」（马可福音三：31—33）同样的，他的乡亲也拒绝他，而拒绝的理由并不是因为他的落魄，反而是因为他的「本领」、 「智慧」、「还能够行神迹」，但却是因为出身木匠的家庭，于是「厌弃他」（马可福音六：1—3）。我们可以从这段经文中看出先知耶利米的心境，不但充满了痛苦，也充满了相当的挣扎，这恐怕就是每一个时代上帝忠心的仆人所共有的心境吧。<br>先知耶利米特别提起他从来没有因为财务问题引起争议；我们知道人与人之间最容易发生困扰的乃是财务的事，但先知耶利米特别强调在这方面他是洁净的。依照摩西的律法规定，他们可以借贷，但却不可以有收受利息的行为（出埃及记廿二：25）。
